UNVEILS THE FREEDOM PUSH CHAIR
Offers Alternate Method of Transport for Adults and Larger Children with Special Needs
Richmond, Virginia, November 2005... Advance Mobility™, the special needs division of the Baby Jogger Company, today unveiled The Freedom push chair, a high performance mobility device which is designed as an alternate method of transport for adults and children with physical disabilities. The Freedom push chair, equipped with several unique features, offers those with physical disabilities to pursue an active lifestyle and more versatile option when traveling.
Unlike wheelchairs, The Freedom push chair features 16 inch puncture resistant pneumatic tires, which provide a smooth ride over all terrain. Moreover, The Freedom push chair demonstrates its versatility through multiple wheel options, as the device comes standard with a swivel front wheel kit, which can easily replace the front tire for improved maneuvering in tight environments. The Freedom push chair is ideal for larger passengers due to the maximum weight capacity recommended being 200lbs. The Freedom push chair offers larger children or adults the utmost in comfort via a padded, reclining seat, a large footplate which can be removed and replaced with the Footwell Kit (sold separately) for passengers with longer legs. A Highback Kit is also available for passengers with a longer torso. In addition, The Freedom push chair features a lightweight, aerodynamic design and a curved handle, making it extremely easy to push. “We are excited to expand our special needs line to feature a product that enables children and adults access to areas not suited for traditional wheelchairs,” said David Boardman, Chief Executive Officer, Baby Jogger Company. “The Freedom push chair is ideal for use on all types of terrain, including the beach, and is a convenient alternative for everyday use.” Designed to ensure maximum security for passengers, The Freedom push chair also features individual rear wheel parking brakes, a bicycle type handbrake with a parking button, an adjustable 5-point safety harness and individual foot straps to help secure the feet of passengers with lower body weakness or spasticity.
